Metrologic Selects Comtrol for Tunnel Scanner Systems

Challenge

New Jersey-based Metrologic recently won a $1.8 million order for their state-of-the-art HoloTunnel scanning system. The tunnel scanner handles more than 6.1 million packages each week for Purolator Courier, Ltd.—Canada’s leading overnight courier company. A key element of the system was the integration of the scanner with the warehouse management system, scales, dimensioning equipment, and other devices.

Technology Solution

Metrologic selected Comtrol’s RocketPort® serial connectivity products as a critical component of their scanning system. The combined Metrologic/Comtrol solution enables Purolator to scan precise weights and sizes, improving billing accuracy and resulting in the recovery of previously lost revenue.
